GAME LOCALIZATION BY PASSIONATE GAMERS

We are BSC Everest. We are professional translators, editors, linguistic QA specialists, and managers from every corner of the globe. We’re all different when it comes to nationality, culture, language, and a zillion other things, but there’s something that unites all together as a devoted international team: our love of games.

Everyone has a dream. Ours has always been to spend time playing games at home and being involved in making them at work. And, if we say so ourselves, we’re very lucky – because that’s exactly what we do!

Our team delivers superb quality in a short space of time, and we’re always mindful of your project's budget. As a customer, you can always trust that our top priorities are accurate, high-end translation and localization, your satisfaction, and positive feedback from players.

services

We’re more than happy to take care of your needs in the following areas:

Continuous localization of mobile and multiplayer games

TRANSLATION

Whether it’s your in-game texts, store descriptions, presentations, or internal documents – leave it to us! These services are usually customers’ top priorities.

Continuous localization of mobile and multiplayer games

PROOFREADING

Already have a translated text you’d like us to polish up and evaluate? We’ll diligently check it for spelling, grammar, stylistic, terminology, and contextual errors, and – it goes without saying – fix them for you.

Continuous localization of mobile and multiplayer games

FULL-CYCLE GAME LOCALIZATION

Our full range of game localization services includes translation, proofreading, and localization testing (LQA). Focusing on these 3 areas ensures the best possible quality and, consequently, a more positive and immersive experience for the audience.

Continuous localization of mobile and multiplayer games

LQA (LINGUISTIC QUALITY ASSURANCE)

Our native speakers will play-test the game before other native speakers. The difference between our native speakers and others is a simple one: ours will send you comprehensive bug-reports, rather than go online to write potentially harmful reviews.

HOW IT WORKS

People often mix up game localization and translation, mistakenly believing that they are the same thing. In fact, the translation of game texts is only a part of localization – which covers a complex set of procedures aimed at fully adapting a game’s content to a specific market. We provide a tried and tested process to prepare your game for going global:

TRANSLATION

The process starts with an initial, “rough” translation. In doing this, our translators provide an accurate and fluent translation of your game text. Before we start, we ask our clients for any kinds of reference materials, style guides, or other guidelines they can provide. This is usually a big help in avoiding the majority of context-related mistakes. When working on a console project, our translators follow all PS/Xbox/Switch naming conventions. Oh, and don’t forget to prepare voiceover and graphic texts for translation, too!

PROOFREADING

Once the initial translation is done, we begin the proofreading process. This is aimed at ensuring uniform terminology, polishing and perfecting the style of the text as a whole, catching any remaining grammatical mistakes, a final spellcheck and – of course – hunting down any other errors or bugs. Proofreading is always carried out by a different specialist to whoever did the initial translation – we understand that at this part of the process, a fresh pair of eyes is essential.

TEXT IMPLEMENTATION

After proofreading the translated in-game texts, VO texts and text for textures, we need the customer’s help in implementing the localized assets in the game. It is at this point that we start preparing for LQA (the next stage in the process), for which we need a cheat-enabled build with fully-integrated localization features.

LQA

Linguistic Quality Assurance has a lot in common with “normal” QA – it involves playing through the game before release in order to assess and confirm the quality of the localization. If there are any localization issues still present, our LQA team will find and correct them before the audience has a chance to! Our task is to check as much of the game’s text as possible, as quickly as possible. That’s why we need cheat-enabled builds – it helps save our time and the customer’s money.

BUGFIX
Once LQA testing is done, we compile a bug report containing any errors found and send it to the customer. We can fix some minor text issues (such as typos) ourselves, but studio’s help is required for the heavy-duty stuff (like missing symbols in Korean fonts, memory leaks, hardcoded lines, etc).

LOCALIZATION OF RELATED MATERIALS

In most cases, having a localized version of a game itself isn’t nearly enough for an international release – there are still all those things like marketing/store descriptions, Steam achievements, legal contracts, keywords, hotfixes and updates, special offers… We’ll help you with these, too.
